This is a country music concept album based on the life of Joseph Lobdell. Lobdell was born in the mid-1800s and assigned female at birth. As he grew, he frequently dressed, presented, and identified as a man. Renowned for his hunting and survival skills, Lobdell would be driven out of various communities, eventually living in the wilderness with his partner. Tragically, Lobdell's brother eventually had him institutionalized. For 20 years, his loved one's believed that he had died, but instead he was held in a psychiatric facility, undergoing constant scrutiny and questioning. He would die in that institution in 1912. Using the sounds of classic country music, I made this album in hopes to further immortalize Joseph and honour him for the trailblazer he was.
